Professional info

I am Rajish Wagh, a motivated, thinking human entity with most of the qualities that aren't really frowned upon by the majority of today's society. In the US, people have been calling me 'RAJ' (pronounced 'RAH-j') (same as the Indian student character in 'The Big Bang Theory', although i dislike the stereotype), but I do like that name.

In May 2017, I graduated with a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Auburn University, AL, home of the 'Auburn Tigers' (like Cam Newton). Here, I finished my curriculum in Electrical Engineering specializing in Robotics and Automation. Currently I am working as a temporary employee at the university and I am actively looking for a regular full-time job in the US Electronics/IT market to work at.

Seven years in Auburn has endowed in me the southern ethics and hospitality. Twenty four years in India have blessed my life with virtues like assertiveness, compassion, commitment, dignity, loyalty, passion for my work and a competitiveness to achieve my goal in time.

I like to keep myself updated on the geo-political and socio-economic issues and current affairs. I like to read and have a blog where I publish my poems. I have written poems in all the three languages that I know, namely, Marathi (mother tongue), Hindi (language widely spoken in India) and English (language widely spoken within the horizons of my influence). If you are interested, please click here to read this English poem I wrote a few years ago. You will find other poems in the same blog if you surf around a bit.

Below is an account of all the major things I have done in my professional life and how they have helped me becoming who/how I am today. I will be pleased if you continue reading.

Technical Service Engineer

2014, Jan - 2014, Jun

At Excellent Electrical Corporation located in the industrial sector of Bhosari, Pune, India, I have worked as a Technical Service Engineer. My job included responsibilities requiring a variety of skills . I was tasked with attending to calls from various companies about malfunctioning electric induction motors from companies like Siemens, Crompton Greaves, Marathon, Kirloskar, ABB etc. At these companies, my job was to inspect the motors and diagnose the cause of the malfunction. This involved opening up the motor if possible, inspecting the coils, shaft, bearings, electrical connections, brushes etc. and finding the culprit. After the diagnosis, a report was to be submitted to the respective companies stating the cause and effect involved in the complaint.

This job turned out to be extremely helpful in getting first hand experience at various manufacturing plants of companies producing a great variety of products. Every day literally produced a different challenge as all the complaints were totally different from each other. It also taught me how the customer-vendor relationships worked on these huge industry levels. I was able to learn a lot from this job in a small duration.

Education
Auburn University, AL, USA

2014 - present

Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Master of Science (Thesis)

The Auburn experience has been even better than I had hoped for in my personalized 'American Dream'. Auburn's all-inclusive culture mixed with Alabama's southern hospitality made my transition here smooth as silk. My department and the design of my program has been wonderful. I have been able to learn science and technology in the way I really wanted to. All the courses and the overall education system was very different from what I was used to. The extra-ordinary teaching has made learning, even the most intricate concepts, so much fun. My adviser, Dr. Thaddeus Roppel's guidance has been a very important factor in these years of my career.

Apart from academics, the strong football fever has taken me into it's pleasant and festive grasp and has made me a true Auburn Tiger. My experience as a committee member of the Indian Student Association at the university was something I am proud of. The plethora of opportunities this school throws at you is amazing and hence, I would like to recommend this school over any other. I cannot end without yelling, "War Eagle...!"

University of Pune, MH, India

2008 - 2012

Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering

One of the highly prestigious universities in India, the University of Pune, had always been a dream to get into. I learnt a lot during my developing years as this course saw me throughout my journey from a naive teenager to a responsible adult having voting rights and strong opinions in India. The course was specifically concentrated on making us experts in our majors and all the fields related to them. Along with all the academics, my college conducted social and technical fairs that encouraged co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. We were also encouraged for participation into various state level events happening in other colleges and universities. I have participated in a lot of these events, workshops, technical games, etc. and have been able to gain a lot of practical knowledge that one might not achieve through typical book learning. Overall it has been an amazing ride. One thing I never miss to do is to miss those days of my life.
